All about rehab now

Week Ending 9.9.2015

With only 2 weeks to Hardmoors, my knee diagnosis wasn’t terrible but getting to the start line without losing the summers fitness might be tricky.

It’s now the 3rd week of interrupted training – a week of illness, a week abandoned early with the knee injury and now a week of physio and easing back into it and I feel more sluggish and have put on a couple of pounds which I need to be careful of.

The good news I guess is that knee isn’t damaged and that it’s a combination of glute/sciatic muscles being too tight from general use during training and these have caused other muscles to overcompensate which has just pulled my knee out of alignment a little which was the cause of the pain.

I left it a few days after physio to go out for a short, easy test run and it felt a little tight and sore still but I figured it would probably be alright so tried parkrun yesterday which didn’t help. It felt sore almost immediately and after a 5:28 first mile I eased right back and jogged around in 18:41 in the end and it felt sore for the rest of the day.

Back onto my rehab from the physio again now, it’s all about stretching out those muscles in my glute and lower back to ease off the knee and it should be fine but in the meantime just got to nurse it through to the start line in 2 weeks.
