Punishing – w.e 29/03/15

After a solid week last week I was able to build on it this week with the main aim of getting in a long run at marathon pace.

As it happened I didn’t manage to get the marathon pace long run done in the end but I replaced the planned 2 hour pace run with a 3 hour hilly trail run in some dismal rain and wind. Just wanted to see how far I’d get in a 3 hour time block so 21.4 miles of trail and road with 2000ft of climbing isn’t too bad.

The rest of the week was made up of some solid and decent mileage and the knee while still feeling “not right” is definitely much better so I’m just balancing pushing hard enough to get the fitness gains but not too hard so I break down again.

Nice view on a run commute 

I think this was actually one of my biggest weeks of running and it was nice to get up towards 70 miles for the week without feeling like I was going to break down.

  • Monday – 10 miles with 6 at MP
  • Tuesday – 13.6 miles (6.4 & 7.1)
  • Wednesday – 9.5 miles
  • Thursday – 5.5 miles
  • Friday – 8.3 miles
  • Saturday – 21.3 miles

Total 68.3 miles, 6,138ft elevation
