Racing Olympians – w.e 28/12/14

Ended the week with the Chevin Chase where you get to toe the line with the Brownlee brothers. Then watch them disappear into the distance.

Little to report really with it being Christmas so an easy week and a restrained Christmas day because the Chevin Chase 7 mile cross country race was on Boxing Day.

I did get out for a nice offroad loop around Digley Reservoir and up and over West Nab in a howling gale which was great fun and this week saw me reach the last remaining stats goal for the year,  going through 200,000ft of elevation for the year.

The Chevin Chase was tough, it’s been a while since I did a shorter race but I was extremely happy to finish up in 38th place in 45:54 (Ali Brownlee won in 37:03) out of 935 finishers and less than 9 minutes behind two Olympians.

I saw some of the race photos of me at Chevin and by god do I look grim, form is all over the place and I look like a squat troll which isn’t the greatest look but as I’ve never done any strength work it’s no surprise.

Next up is mapping out my training for London for the next 16 or so weeks and part of that is going to be the strength work I’ve been so slack in not doing.
