Solid week – w.e 22/3/15

Knee is still a little delicate when warming up but it’s definitely improving and a decent and varied week under the belt for the first time in a while.

I managed a tempo run on Wednesday at 6:01/mile pace which felt alright, net downhill but still, good practice getting the legs turning over quickly.

Didn’t bother trying to get a long run in this week but next weekend I’m going to head over to the Trans Pennine Trail to do a tester of the knee and legs on a flat out and back of about 16-17 miles hopefully at marathon pace and see where I’m at as the training plan has been somewhat disrupted to say the least so far but it’s great getting back on the trails instead of the roads but I do need a “check up” of where I’m at in terms of road/flat ground pace over a longer distance.

The mojo returns quicker when you have views like this on your run

Sunday was a good run and reassuring in a lot of ways as I ran straight to the top of West Nab – the large hill I live on which is basically an 800ft climb in 1.8 miles from my door and peaks at 17% gradient and it’s the first time I’ve run the whole way up so it’s good to know there’s some strength in the legs there and then I bagged a Strava CR along a flat-ish segement at 4:26/mile pace so good turnover speed there too.

Sunday will be nice, I’m marshalling at Dovestone Reservoir for the Oldham Way Ultra where I was lucky enough to share 3rd place last year. Be good to cheer some friends through.

We’ll see next Saturday where I’m at marathon fitness wise though I guess.
