Another parkrun 1st!

Week Ending 5.7.2015

After the long day out on the Billy Bland relay, it’s been a nice easy week capped by my third first place at a parkrun this year.

Despite feeling good following the Billy Bland relay I took a couple of days anyway as it’s easy to overlook the physical strain 7 hours on your feet can do so no mad rush this week although I need to start looking seriously at my Hardmoors 60 training moving forward as that’s looming large on the horizon in September.

We took another visit to Stamford park parkrun on Saturday and met up with Susi & David to do that one. It’s a tough little undulating trail course that I finished second at the weekend before last.

This time I was a little luckier, deciding to go hard from the start and leading the whole way to finish 1st this time a second quicker in 18:20.

Time to start getting back to the long runs midweek with the aim of building to a 30 miler around the White Rose Ultra route some time early August and a 20 mile recce of the finish of the Hardmoors route to reacquaint myself with that.

I’ve also been doing 30 days of core work which is now 17 days in and while only 15-20 minutes at home each day I do feel a little benefit to the effort although it’s early days. Hopefully continuing this routine will lead to better distance running and a little more power when I’m flagging.
