Streaking forward

Week Ending 3/1/2016

The Marcothon came and went in a bit of a blur and I’ve carried on running so with the week before and this week, I’m heading towards 50 days running.

I still wait for the inevitable day when I fancy a rest or am too busy to get out to continue the streak but it’s good to be able to focus a little and with Ally’s coaching underway I’ve done my first 4 week cycle.

That means this week is extremely easy running barring parkrun on Saturday where I can potentially put myself within touching distance of the club championship with 8 runs remaining. I don’t yet know where I’m at speed wise having done my first 3 interval sessions but at least 17:34 at parkrun last week is progress and getting back to more like the times I was running in the summer.

Following the new year parkrun double over 2 days (17:57 & 17:34) I also got out and did my first long run (14.5 miles/2000ft) since White Rose 100 and it was good to get out on the moors for a couple of hours.

The upcoming weeks will be tough but I’m looking forward to racing more now the focus is on shorter distances beginning with my first half marathon at Inskip where I’m hoping to run a decent time close to 1:20 if possible followed by Dewsbury 10 and then Windy Hill fell race.

Recovery is going to be key and I’ve begun taking the daily stretching more seriously now.
