Taper week w.e 2/11/2014

With the White Rose Ultra on sunday, an easy final week of training instead of winding down completely.

I tried tapering for The Grizzly earlier in the year and despite it being a short(ish) race at 20 miles, I decided to taper fully after a long winter of training but felt sluggish when I got to the start after just a few days not running so this week in the lead up I just carried on my normal runs to work but at a relaxed pace and then just had Saturday off as normal.

Excitingly, I’ve been planning on supplementing my running fitness by taking up climbing (bouldering) and have been waiting for the new sports centre in Huddersfield to open as they are building a new climbing wall but to my immense delight and luck, almost out of the blue a new bouldering climbing boulder has just been installed literally over the road from my work so I’m going to start using that at lunchtime a couple of times a week to improve strength and fitness over winter.

Sunday was the White Rose Ultra (4th place, 3rd male)
