A painful week

Week Ending 21.06.2015

With a week to go until the Billy Bland relay it’s not a good time to feel a bit strained but I had always planned an easy week in the lead up.

I’d intended to run another 70 mile week this week which would have been 3 in a row then have an easy week dialling right back to single runs each day and around 40 miles for the week.

This was planned as my easy 1 in 4 week but to be honest I felt knackered after Marsden 10 on Sunday and after easy runs the first couple of days of the week I just felt there was no point risking injury for the sake of miles.

Both my achilles have been sore recently and I’m suffering a little with some discomfort along the bottom of my feet which I’m hoping isn’t PF as that would be a disaster although I don’t seem to be suffering any of the other common symptoms so a couple of rest days are now on the cards to let everything settle before the weekend.

We did take a family trip to Stamford parkrun in Stalybridge just over th’ill in Lancashire where I had a decent run for second place in 18:21 on a tough undulating trail route, happy with that although it’s painfully clear that there’s a good gap between where I’m at right now in terms of speed and where I ultimately want to be for this distance.

Having tried a couple of weeks at 70 miles I don’t feel comfortable I’m ready for that without one of the runs being a significant long run of 16-18 miles because doubling up 3-4 times a week is leaving me feeling a bit jaded. Back to the 50-60 mile range with more focus on quality.
