All downhill from here – Week ending 23rd Feb 2014

That’s about it for this phase of training as I plan to ease down a bit now in prep for my first A race of the year – The Grizzly.

It’s been bloody tough making the transition from about 40 miles a week up to 60-70 for sure. Especially around here as most weeks have involved the thick end of 5500ft of climbing too which works out to climbing the height of Snowdon AND Kinder Scout each week. No wonder my legs feel a little jaded now.

Still, good for strength at least and the plan now is drop the double days next week and then have a really easy week in the lead up and hope to still meet my 3 hour/top 50 aims although getting the race newsletter and number through where the organisers suggest basing your finish estimate on your marathon time due to the difficulty of the course should be interesting as the last marathon I did was Manchester a year ago and that didn’t go well training wise so I’ve no idea of my marathon time these days.

We’ll see soon!

  • Monday – 10 miles
  • Tuesday – 15 miles (6 + 9)
  • Wednesday – 8 miles
  • Thursday – 8.1 miles
  • Friday – 15.6  miles (8 + 7.6)
  • Saturday – Rest
  • Sunday – 13.4 miles

Total: 70.2 miles 5,817 ft elevation.
