Solid recovery – w/e 24.08.2014

This was always going to be a bit of a tester after the Trail Chase and a near 80 mile week last week so I’m glad my legs responded well for once.

Since I decided to go a bit old school and print out a calendar and mark out some proper training miles and a vague schedule I’ve managed to bump the weekly miles up steadily since we got back from holiday with the aim of getting any sort of base for the Ladybower 50 at the back end of September and also the White Rose Ultra in November.

So after an 80 mile week followed by a day off on Monday, I’ve managed 44 miles in 4 days (weekend commitments mean I’ll probably miss the 50 mile target for the week) but I’m pleased the legs feel strong after last week. I also managed to double up running to and from work and felt pretty good running home which is a good sign.

Next week should be fun, the long run I so desperately need to get in each week is going to be an early start once a week and ramp up to a 20 ish miler each week which will address some of the stamina issues I felt at the end of the first day of the Trail Chase and I hope set me up for a couple of decent races soon.
