I put in a hard week this week which included taking a day off on wednesday specifically to get onto the muddy trail to do a challenging 20 miles in prep for the Grizzly in March which is the same distance so I wanted to see where I was at fitness wise as I’ve not done a 20 miler for quite a while.
My goal for the Grizzly was to run sub 3 hours which would be around 50th place.
In the end on wednesday I ran 2:52 for 20 miles (2500ft elevation and a lot of mud) and had a fair bit in the tank if needed so while I’m tempted to aggressively revise my 3 hour target, I’m also aware that it’s a difficult course and last year the winning time was 2:24 so I think perhaps 2:50 as a stretch would be good.
