Nearly back to form now

Week Ending 16.10.2016

Lets hope the dreaded last words curse doesn’t strike but this week has been even better than the last with some better paced easy running and a good parkrun result.

Continuing the theme of base building and trying to get into a stride of running a bit faster on normal training days, I can definitely feel some improvements coming now and 17:33 at parkrun today suggests I’m on the right track. It’s only 20s off my PB so with speed sessions and another 15-20mpw to build up to over the coming weeks I’m looking forward to hopefully hitting Christmas in good shape.

The goal remains to work out all my niggles and get to somewhere around 50mpw by December so I can go into a marathon training block over Christmas for London.

I’ve always done my day to day easy running at around 8-8:15/mile pace which for many is pretty slow but I still found that I was able to run good times from 5k to marathon on this but my aim this time is to start making my easy pace more like 7-7:15/mile and this is coming along nicely on the flatter parts of my runs to work.

The Adidas Adios Boost 3 is still an absolute joy to run in, I’m looking forward to hitting the roads every day and knocking out the miles. It’s also nice getting back into bagging some Strava segments too.

Hopefully the miserable 6 months of injury and niggles can start fading into the background now.

White Rose Ultra visitors

I’ll be helping support at the White Rose Ultra in a couple of weeks, if you’re visiting the site from a search on the race and found some of my reports (2013 – 30 miles2014 – 30 miles, 2015 – 100 miles) and have any questions about the race or kit etc, feel free to give me a shout on Twitter or one of the Strava tracks linked in the race reports.
