A much needed easy week was supposed to lead up to a race on Sunday but that didn’t happen.
After 213 January miles, I was looking forward to a nice easy week culminating in having a go at running sub 37 minutes at Dewsbury 10k but in the end, I managed to pick up a bit of a cold on thursday and had a head that felt like it was in a vice all day friday and saturday so I didn’t see much point paying £16 to fail at Dewsbury and went out did a nice easy bit of mud slogging instead.
As it happened on monday I ended up doing a bit of unplanned tempo work including a surpringly comfortable 19:07 5k in the middle of my run to work so that was probably the only real highlight of an uneventful week.
Looking forward to Feb as it’s a little over 5 weeks now until The Grizzly down in Devon so the plan is basically to have the 4 weeks building significant mileage around 65-70 a week followed by a nice 9 day taper ready for the race.
- Monday – 5.5 miles (tempo)
