The thinking part of my brain did say I shouldn’t do a notoriously tough category AS fell race the weekend before London Marathon but I needed something to take my mind off that looming goal and this was it.

The thinking part of my brain did say I shouldn’t do a notoriously tough category AS fell race the weekend before London Marathon but I needed something to take my mind off that looming goal and this was it.
Finished a solid week of runs with a punishing fell race and I’m about as ready for London as I’m ever going to be.
Went away camping this week so while I had grand plans of getting out most days and exploring a little of the local trails in Northumberland it just didn’t happen.
This was supposed to a nice easy week in a 4 week cycle so fairly low mileage but a race on Monday and full effort parkrun gave a good feel for where I’m at with London only 3 weeks away.
After a solid week last week I was able to build on it this week with the main aim of getting in a long run at marathon pace.
Knee is still a little delicate when warming up but it’s definitely improving and a decent and varied week under the belt for the first time in a while.
Back to it a bit – w.e 15/3/15
Finally the knee pain seems to be easing a little and for the first time in a while I actually met my modest 50mpw target without the aid of big long run.
A nice change of scenery race wise, despite it being just down the road I’ve never done the Ian Roberts Fell Race so figured for a fiver and it counting on the Meltham AC club fell championships I’d give it a go.
Knee was incredibly sore this week following the Grizzly so pretty much all rest with a local race on the Sunday.

A year seems to have flown by since I wrote about the Grizzly 2014 race being the hardest race I’ve run but here we are looking back on another great weekend racing along the cliffs and through the countryside and bogs of Devon.
